About Mt Tibrogargan and the Glass House Mountains: A quick history

Mt Tibrogargan was formed from millions of years of volcanic history. It is one of 12 peaks that form the Glass House Mountains Region, all having varying heights and varied opportunities for hiking.

The 12 Glass House Mountains are:

  1. Mount Beerwah (556 metres)

  2. Mount Coonowrin (377 metres)

  3. Mount Tibrogargan (364 metres)

  4. Mount Tunbubudla (294 metres)

  5. Mount Beerburrum (278 metres)

  6. Mount Ngungun (253 metres)

  7. Mount Coochin (235 metres)

  8. Mount Tibberowuccum (220 metres)

  9. Mount Miketeebumulgrai (202 metres)

  10. Wild Horse Mountain (123 metres)

  11. Mount Elimbah (109 metres)

  12. Mount Cooee (106 metres)

Getting to Mount Tibrogargan:

We recommend having a car for your journey as the mountains are spread out, you'll find this the fastest and easiest way to get around the National Park Region. Mount Tibrogargan is located a 2.5 Hour Drive from the Gold Coast or Gold Coast Airport, 1.5-hour drive from Brisbane and Brisbane Airport or just 35 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport.

The car park entrance to Mount Tibrogargan is located between the town of Glass House Mountains and Beerburrum, off Marshs road and Barrs Roads.

The Mount Tibrogargan Circuit Trail:

The Tibrogargan Circuit is a 4.1-kilometre circuit loop, which is mostly flat and easy, starting from the car park. If you wish to do a shorter walk, it is only a 10-minute walk (1 kilometre) to the Mountain View lookout point, which offers views over Mount Coonowrin, Mount Tunbubudla and Mount Tibberoowuccum. The trail is full of stunning native flora and fauna and is an easy to moderate walk.
