Singapore best local eats: Chuen Chuen Bugis, Tan Quee Lan St

Updated: Aug 3, 2019

Chuen Chuen local restaurant, Bugis, Singapore

Our blog reivew of Chuen Cheun Restaurant in Bugis:

Seven years ago, as newbies to Singapore, we could never imagine eating something like 'curry fish head' let alone it being a lunch time craving. But here we are, seven years later, in search of the best truely local eats.

A great street for local food is Tan Quee Lan Street, in Bugis, filled with small shop houses of little restaurants, one of which is Chen Chuen. We knew we made a good choice when we were the only foreigners seated at the busy tables. The most popular dish seemed to be the chicken rice, however we had different cravings and opted for the Curry Fish head and Cereal prawns. The curry was served in a large bowl, more than enough to feed 4 - 5 people. It was filled with vegetables and full of fragrant tastes and spices. Within the thick and rich curry was a substantial amount of meaty fish all of good quality. It was more than we could finish. The cereal prawns included six large prawns coated with loads of delicious cereal (I'd happily just order the cereal to mix with my rice without prawns its so good). We left with our stomach satisfied.

Getting to Chuen Chuen restaurant:

Chuen Chuen is located at 21 Tan Quee Lan St, #01-01 Heritage Place, Singapore. It is a close walk from Bugis MRT station.

It is open daily from 10.30am - 10.30pm.
